Being baptized in the Holy Spirit and allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control should be (as it was with Paul) normal living here on this earth. When the flesh is allowed to be in control there exists sin and it's consequences, mainly hard-heartedness to the things of God; this is a tough way to live, being at the mercy of selfishness and selfcenteredness. Walking in the Spirit, not in the flesh - how could anything but optimism prevail?
