The great thing about Paul and his example was that he was so dead to his "self" and alive to the Spirit of God that he possessed all the blessings and power that should be ours also. This death of self is the destruction of all self-centeredness, selfishness, and taking offense, that works to destroy and hinder relationships (especially with God), and is the primary cause of doublt and unbelief. Holding on to self just is not worth it, no matter what flesh says. You can't hurt a corpse.
