Even with the threat of a woman receiving the glory of victory instead of him, Barak, apparently a great warrior, exhibited epicene tendencies. This is an increasing problem in our modern world; where the man will not assume the spiritual headship in obedience to the system that God has ordained, and then wondering why the relationship and practical outcomes are not working. It is time that we pursue the knowledge of who we are in Christ, throw off religious tradition, and begin to do things God's way. We already have EVERYTHING we need; the provision is complete, even that tiny seed of Faith.
An interesting thought Jim. You said you were going to start using some big words. I had to look this one up . . . EPICENE, a noun: having but one form to indicate either sex; having characteristics typical of the other sex: intersexual: effeminate; lacking characteristics of either sex. After reflecting on the story, I wondered how often I put God in a box and expected that He had to respond in a way that made sense to me. I think that Barak may have been open to the Lord’s leading in his life and believed that the Lord could do anything even if it did not make sense to him.
Epicene. Also commonly referring to a lack of a strong sense of manhood; feeble, weak, flacid, lacking strong character and direction; overly dependant on others.

Barak? Where have I heard that name before?
