Day 13 - Ten Brothers Go to Egypt (Genesis 42:1-38)

Why do you think people hide their true feelings? Do you?

In what situations would you feel comfortable sharing “the real you”?

  1. Yes, I think most of us hide our true feelings at various times. How does the expression go . . . I am afraid to show you who I really am because if you don’t like who I am that is all I have left?

I believe that we all feel more comfortable being open when we feel accepted and when we feel loved. That is what makes a relationship with Jesus so great. He knows who we really are and He still accepts us and loves us. We can be who we really are with Him. It takes some of us longer than other to feel accepted and loved but it is an incredible journey of discovery.

  2. Being posers is what we do best. We have so many walls built up to protect ourselves, we get lost in knowing what our true feelings really are. It takes a lot of examination to get at the truth about ourselves; to strip back the delusions and the denials. If we do not, our relationships suffer and it carries over into our relationship with God. Not that He's mad at us - we get distrustful of Him.(doubt and unbelief pulling against faith) I think that's why Paul said that we need to die daily to self.
